In Lutsk started the academic conference "Volhynian icon: research and restoration"
19-20 October 2016 Volyn Museum of regional Ethnography at the Department of Museum of Volyn icon – holds the XXIII international scientific conference "Volhynian icon: research and restoration". Domestic and foreign scholars, Museum workers and conservators, since 1994, annually gather in luck to share their scientific achievements in the study and restoration of monuments of sacred art in historical Volyn and Ukraine. The main objective of the conference is generalization of experience of leading research organizations, museums and educational institutions to address issues of conservation, research and restoration of Volyn icon-painting, attracting the attention of scientists and the public to this unique phenomenon in the history of Ukrainian artistic heritage. The conference was attended by 36 scientists, art historians, historians, Museum workers and restorers from Ukraine, Russia, Belarus and Poland. Among participants of conference – scientists of the National Academy of fine arts and architecture, Institute of Ukrainian studies named. And Krypiakevych Institute of art studies, folklore and Ethnology im. M. T. Rylsky national Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Kharkov state Academy of design and arts of the Precarpathian national University. After Vasyl Stefanyk National Museum in Lviv named Andrew Sheptytsky, National reserve "Castles of Ternopil" and "Ancient Halych", Kaluga regional art Museum (Russia), research center of Belarusian culture, language and literature of NAS of Belarus (Belarus), the National scientific research restoration center of Ukraine, Lviv and Odessa branches and others. Reports and messages of participants of the conference were published in a scientific collection. The publication is illustrated with color photographs, most of which published for the first time. Among the materials of the collection of articles on the study of the iconography of works by Volyn iconography, technical and technological characteristics of Volyn icons and religious carvings, history of the churches of Volyn, directories, collections of sacred art in the museums of Ukraine. On the first day of the conference at the Volyn local history Museum was held a plenary session and the opening of the Museum of Volyn icon of the exhibition "treasures of the earth Volyn. The monuments of sacred art of Volyn XVII–XVIII centuries" from the collection of the National art Museum of Ukraine. On the second day the conference will continue the work in the Museum of Volyn icons. The participants will get acquainted with the sights of Volyn icon-painting, decorative carvings and sculpture, who joined the Museum in 2016. The monuments were restored in 2015, the restorers of the National research restoration center of Ukraine and the Lviv branch of the National Academy of fine arts and architecture.
