In Ternopil discussed the reform of local government

Tuesday, October 18, at the session hall of the Ternopil city Council held a forum called "Reform of local self-government, problems and prospects”, which was presented successes and challenges of local government reform. The event was attended by experts on reforms and about’unification of territorial communities, as well as activists and government officials. Lawyer of NGO “Institute of the Republic” Yuri Sereda says that such forums are held throughout Ukraine, during which they monitored the progress of local government reform and decentralization process. “In my opinion, is the meaning of’to connect communities around cities, because residents are able to use the existing infrastructure of the city, it does not develop to a significant extent this infrastructure on their own. That is, those resources that now go to the village communities for infrastructure development, can be directed to other needs, - says Yuri Sereda. - But the community can receive additional income in the form of subsidies for infrastructure development, and so forth”. Participants of the forum congratulated Ternopil mayor Sergei Nadal. “In Ukraine began the process of decentralization, local government reform, the transmission power, which is often accompanied by an imperfect law, - said the head of Ternopil. - I hope that all problems will be solved - it is only a matter of time, and these forums would help to raise the awareness of people, deputies and employees of local governments, as well as during these meetings will work out the changes that should be made in the legislation for successful reforms”. This was reported in the Ternopil city Council
