Since the beginning of work on the region Project EU/UNDP attracted more than 20 million hryvnias

From the beginning of work on the region Project EU/UNDP “Local development, oriented on colossus” in the region implemented 170 projects. "The first phase of the project started in 2008. During this time, attracted almost 35 million vehicles, of which 20 million – money of the project. Funds are allocated for repair of schools, kindergartens, open ZAPU, the creation of cooperatives, etc., - said the Director of the Department of economic development and trade of the regional state administration Galina Volanic. – Now in the region continues to implement the third phase of the joint project EU/UNDP "Local development, oriented on colossus", which take communities 10 districts". The total budget for micro-projects phase III is nearly 10.6 million hryvnias. Reference. A joint project of the European Union and the United Nations development Program "Local development, oriented on colossus" (IWG) in 2008 is active on the entire territory of Ukraine. During this time, 2.6 million people in over 2000 villages have improved their lives through the implementation of micro-projects on the restored kindergartens and schools (664), medical facilities (118), access to improved water sources (110), environmental protection (9), energy saving street lighting (706). More than 2000 local initiatives was introduced, more than 20,000 community members and 6,000 local and regional officials were trained on financial management and project management. During the third phase of the Project, the IWG provides support for regional and local authorities to share best practices and experience with joint planning and further dissemination of the approach on the community in the Ternopil region. The Project of IWG aimed at restoring basic social and communal infrastructure in such areas of priority communities, such as energy efficiency, health, environmental protection, water supply together with the development of small agrarian business. The project supports the Government of Ukraine in the implementation of decentralization reforms and disseminating innovative approaches to joint planning and the promotion of sustainable socio-economic development at the local level through the centers of knowledge management and implementation of the course in the curricula of the twenty universities. The third phase of the Project, the IWG will be implemented during 2014-2018 with a total budget of 23.8 million Euro, provided by the European Union (23 million Euro) and UNDP (800,000 Euro). The aim of the Project is to promote sustainable socio-economic development at the local level by strengthening the overall management and promotion of public initiatives throughout Ukraine. In the Ternopil region continues to implement the third phase of the joint project EU/UNDP “Local development, oriented on colossus” began on 9 Oct 2014 with the signing of a partnership Agreement between the Ternopil regional state administration, Ternopil regional Council and the United Nations development Programme.
