In the premises of Lutsk city public veteran organization “the Union of prisoners — victims of Nazism” held a press-conference on the occasion of the beginning of the work of the Union project “Improving social protection, adaptation and equal opportunities for elderly people among the victims of national socialism by providing them with qualified support and assistance in the home, involvement in social activity”. The Chairman of the Board LMGO SURN Valentine Lazaruk spoke about the history of the organization, which unites people of the city of Lutsk, in the years of the Second world war were subjected to abuse from the Nazi criminals in the concentration camps and in forced labor in Nazi Germany. One of the main areas of activity — protection of legal social, economic, age and other common interests of its members — victims of Nazism and their families. In particular, implementing the project in 2012, which was funded by the “International Foundation “mutual Understanding and tolerance”, was published a collection of memoirs of former prisoners of Nazi concentration camps, children of prisoners and children born in concentration camps, Ostarbeiters forcibly taken to Nazi Germany during the Second world war under the name of “the memory”. In 2013-2014, this Fund was supported by another project “Without a past has no future ­ living history of generations”. The project, which was presented, will be implemented in the framework of the program “meeting Place is Dialogue” with funding from the Foundation “remembrance, responsibility and future” ( Germany). His partner is a Ukrainian charitable organization “Care for the elderly”. The project runs from 1 October 2016 to September 31, 2018 (two years). Its activities are aimed at maintaining the vital needs of elderly people from among the prisoners — victims of Nazism, members of the Lutsk city public veteran organization “the Union of prisoners — victims of Nazism” 64. 28 of them are not mobile, elderly people who require special care. The project will be formed a group of volunteers of different age groups that will help these people in everyday life. The main partners of the project are: Lutsk city Council, Department of social policy Lutsk city Council, Volyn regional branch of the Ukrainian Union of prisoners — victims of Nazism”, Lutsk pedagogical College, Lutsk medical College, Volyn College National University of food technologies, Eastern European national University, public organizations of the region. Among the main activities of the new project — meetings with students at the club “Hot heart” and educational institutions. Meeting with working youth. Will work legal advice for project participants prisoners — victims of Nazism. Provided participation in cultural events, excursions. The project specialist will provide ongoing support for people with limited mobility and also the provision of sanitary-hygiene products, diapers and the like.
