Chernihiv school # 1 recently celebrated its 80th anniversary. On the occasion of this respected date in the Chernigov regional musical-drama theatre named after Shevchenko was held the celebration. The staff of the school holiday were congratulated by city heads and area, graduates of almost all previous years, guests and invitees. is one of the most prestigious educational institutions in our city, which continues the best traditions of in-depth study of foreign languages. Now the school has over 1400 students. It is known that in 50-e years, some school subjects were taught in English. in addition to English, the learning of a second foreign language (German or French). In his speech, Chernihiv mayor Vladislav Atroshenko noted that despite his age, 1 and the school is still "young institution with a very serious prospect." He reminded the audience that according to the magazine "Focus" in 2014 in the list of the 50 best schools in the Ukrainian school ¹ 1 took 11 th place, behind only the high schools, working at the leading universities of the country. The school actively liaises with the Peace Corps and schools in the USA, Germany, France and Poland and participates in the school FLEX exchange. During independence of Ukraine more than 50 students have become finalists of future leaders for this program and had the opportunity to study in the United States.
