"We virtually travelled to all corners of Ukraine in search of the most beautiful castle ruins, – reports the Agency. – We took into account scenic views of the landscape and the size of the ruins that was really something to see." Mykulynetske castle — a stone castle, which is located in the village.Mykulyntsi Terebovlya district, Ternopil region, at a distance of 23 km from Ternopil. The castle has the shape of a square with a length of 75 meters and thick defensive walls of 2 meters. On 3 corners of the castle tower round tower that had 3 tiers with loopholes for guns. On the West side, where defensive walls are additionally protected by a moat, the castle had an entrance gate with a drawbridge. Another entrance to the castle from the East. Inside the fortress there were houses, and under them the cellars and underground passages. About Mykulyntsi (called Mikulin) in 1096 mentioned in his "instructions for children" Grand Prince of Kiev Vladimir Monomakh. The village was founded by monks who built in this area, the Church of St. Nicholas, hence it got its name. In princely times the population Mikulin was obliged to maintain the wife of the Prince of Terebovlia, and in 1387. the town was captured by the poles. The stone castle began to build in 1550 on the orders of the then owner of Mikulinets Anna Jordan, daughter of Korhogo Hetman Nikolai Senyavsky (owner of Berezhany castle). Then the fortress passed to the family of the gentry Zborowski, and subsequently Koniecpolski. By Mykulyntsi ran the Tatar conquest the way, the Horde attacked the town almost every year. On the walls of the fortress are still visible traces of resin, which the defenders poured on the heads of militant Stepovyk. Also, according to local residents, to protect the ancient inhabitants of the town built an underground passage right up to Terebovlya, length 9 km, and the Entrances to dungeons can be seen so far, but go far on them not because they are swamped. Especially notable Mykulyntsi in 1675, when a local Deposit of a few hundred people survived the 15-day siege by Turkish troops. The defenders had few weapons, but repelled all attacks of the Ottomans. Then the Turks decided to dig under the fortress. These innovations were finally broken fortificant structures. But over time, the production of enterprising Baron went bankrupt and the castle was empty. Since that time, he was not recovered and nobody was interested in them. In fact, the castle was left to self-destruct. There is a legend that in the XIX – early XX century. at the Mykulynetske the castle had settled ghosts. When in the basement under the apartments of the modern inhabitants of the fortress was a blacksmith. He had a daughter who bore an illegitimate child. The parents could not come to terms with the shame and reproached her. The woman could not stand, fell ill and died, leaving the baby an orphan. As unmarried, she was buried according to custom, in a white dress, and then people saw a young girl in white who looked in the Windows of the lower floors of the castle.
