In the Ternopil region, the government improved the system of social payments to citizens who suffered owing to Chernobyl accident

the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine at its meeting on October 26, 2016 amended the resolution dated 20.09.2005 ¹ 936 "On approval of Procedure of use of state budget funds for programmes related to social protection of citizens which suffered owing to Chernobyl catastrophe" from 14.05.2015 No. 285 "About compensatory payments to persons who suffered as a result of the Chernobyl disaster and the recognition of such that has lost force, certain resolutions of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine". The Ministry of social policy has developed the draft act with the aim of ensuring target and effective use of budget funds by improving the system of social payments to victims of the Chernobyl accident and related to them the citizens and the adjustment of existing normative legal acts into conformity with the current legislation. In particular, the changes are aimed at resolving the question of compensation in the event the person's residence. Also excluded from the Procedure rules relating to compensation and benefits to affected citizens, classified as 4, parents of child victims, the citizens who live or work in the territories of radioactive contamination as such that has lost force in connection with adoption of amendments to the Law of Ukraine "On status and social protection of citizens which suffered owing to Chernobyl catastrophe". However, this government decision will contribute to ensuring the rights of citizens who took part in liquidation of consequences of nuclear accidents, nuclear tests, military exercises involving nuclear weapons, Assembly of nuclear warheads and holding them for routine maintenance.
