According to the Department of agricultural development of regional state administration, as of November 22, 2016, with the sown area of sugar beet 54.8 thousand hectares dug out of 48.4 thousand hectares (88,4 %), roots of harvested sugar 2379,6 thousand tonnes with the average yield – 491,4 kg /ha. In the production season 2016-2017 has 6 sugar mills. As 22.11.2016 G. accepted for processing 2241,5 thousand tons of sugar beet processed – 2080,2 thousand tons. Produced 323,4 thousand tons of sugar, accounting for 21.8% of the national production.
