Ukraine set a record for exports of sugar
In 2016, the exports of sugar amounted to 465.9 thousand tons, a record figure in the history of Ukraine's independence. Therefore, the presence of Ukrainian beet sugar in the world market has increased four times in comparison with the previous year. "2016 was a record in many respects. So to a record grain export 39 million tons of grain were added-the largest-ever figure for exports of sugar – almost 466 thousand tons. Ukraine continues to increase its export potential and to confirm the world leadership," – said the Minister of agrarian policy and food of Ukraine Taras Kutovoy. In September – December of the current marketing year Ukrainian sugar producers exported 344,1 thousand tons of sugar. During these four months the Ukrainian sugar first came to the markets in Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Somalia, Ethiopia, South Africa, Macedonia, Sudan, China. It should be noted that the opening of new markets for Ukrainian producers was due to the planned increase in sugar quality.
