14 January 2016 in Abu Dhabi (UAE) the Chairman of the Saee Serhiy Savchuk took part in the 7th meeting of the General Assembly of the International Agency for renewable energies (IRENA). "IRENA brings together different countries around the world to encourage their transition to a sustainable energy future, using innovative technologies and better financial instruments. Ukraine is a great honor to have the opportunity to join this organization. Convinced that participation in IRENA will bring renewable energy of Ukraine on new level of development, helping to achieve the goal of reducing dependence on traditional energy resources, especially gas", - said in his speech, the Chairman of the Saee and added that our country's participation in IRENA is an opportunity to join the global trend of using clean energy sources. Sergey Savchuk said: "In the process of accession to IRENA, Ukraine is at the finish line. The bill, developed by the Saee has been agreed with all Central authorities. I hope that in the coming months will be reviewed and adopted by the Parliament". Speaking on behalf of the government of Ukraine Sergey Savchuk also briefed the participants of the meeting, representatives from more than 150 countries with potential and development policy "green" energy in Ukraine, the objectives of the adopted National action plan for renewable energy by 2020. He also noted that in their work of Saee is already using the IRENA study, including a roadmap for development renewable energy in Ukraine until 2030 (REMAP – 2030). The key developments said IRENA Director General Adnan Amin, presenting a report on the implementation of the annual programme of work and budget for 2016-2017. According to him, the increase in the number of IRENA members (currently 150 members and 27 countries in the accession process) confirms the global need to transition to clean sources. Over the past two years most new generating capacity installed in the world on renewable sources of energy. In 2015 recorded 156 GW of new capacity, and the volume of investments in this sector reached a record of 286 billion dollars. All this suggests that "energy" the transition to renewable sources is becoming global in nature. For his part, IRENA will continue to provide support and assistance to all countries that have embarked on increasing the share of "green" energy, especially for those who need easier access to financial resources. In turn, Mr. Mario Giro and Deputy Minister for foreign Affairs of Italy, the country elected this year President of the 7th session of the Assembly noted the important role of IRENA, which, in his opinion, the only global voice for renewable energy development. In his speech he paid special attention to the socio-economic benefits of the development of this sector, in particular, the question of migration and employment of population by creating new jobs.
