Sergey Savchuk: Denmark is planning to provide Ukraine with technical assistance for the development of renewable energy and energy efficiency (photo)

19 January 2017 the President of the Saee Serhiy Savchuk held a meeting with representatives of the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Denmark and the Danish company, with whom he discussed the possibility of seeking technical assistance of Denmark in the fields of energy efficiency and renewable energy of Ukraine. "Ukraine follows global trends. Thus, according to the commitments to the European Union, we have developed and adopted a national action plan for renewable energy by 2020 and has set an ambitious goal to achieve 11% share of green energy in final consumption. Implementation of the plan requires the involvement of more than 16 billion euros of investment. For this we are improving the legislation", - said the Chairman and explained that, for example, improved in 2015, the system of "green" tariffs helped to make green projects more attractive to investors. In the future we can talk about the creation of energy clusters in every region of the country. During the meeting Sergey Savchuk presented to the Danish side of the state policy in the sphere of energy efficiency and renewable energy, focusing on the priority task of the Government – the replacement and reduction of gas consumption. He explained that to achieve the goal for 2014-2016 was developed and adopted several important laws and regulations and achieved considerable results. In turn, the Danish side announced: "Denmark begins the fourth phase of the Danish neighbourhood programme, one of whose goals is to promote the economic development of the countries neighboring the EU, including renewable energy and energy efficiency. The challenge now is to find out the priority directions of development of these spheres in Ukraine to further attract investment." As explained by the representative of the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Denmark, Darren Reber, the program provides for Ukraine and Georgia for the period from 2017 to 2021. It is assumed that the total funding for the five-year program will amount to about 800 million Danish kroner. During the meeting, Danish experts discovered a special interest in the operation of investors with local authorities, examples of existing projects in the regions. At the end of the meeting S. Savchuk noted that the Agency is ready to provide advice to both investors and developers of projects. The parties have agreed on the need to continue dialogue, exchange relevant information and identify the most promising areas of cooperation in the fields of renewable energy and energy efficiency.
