3 February, on the initiative of Barsky district Union of war veterans of Afghanistan (soldiers-internationalists) in Mitkowski school i-III century was held a solemn opening of a memorial plaque to the dead in Afghanistan countryman Vasily Ivanovich Gerasimchuka. In a rally-Requiem dedicated to the memory of Vasyl Herasymchuk, was attended by chief of staff Lordly state administration Igor Stavnyuk, Deputy Chairman, Barsky district Council Alexander Parchevsky, Mitkowski village Chairman Petro Kolodiy, veterans-Afghans, the public of the village. Teachers and students Mitkowski school prepared a touching scenario. Poetic lines recited by the pupils, did not leave anyone indifferent. After all, it was about the undeclared Afghan war in hell which killed 3,500 Ukrainian servicemen. Back home in a zinc coffin and a graduate Mitkowski school Vasily Gerasimchuk. And though the Afghan war was over 28 years ago, but the memory of the courage and bravery of soldiers-internationalists is not quenched. The honorary right to open the plaque who died in Afghanistan Vasily Gerasimchuk was given to the Chairman of the regional organization "Union of veterans of Afghanistan (soldiers-internationalists)" Vasily Dawn Director Mitkowski school Nina, Hadasik. Attendees observed a minute of silence and the bright memory of another of his brave countryman, the Hero ATO Asenaca Vitaly, who gave his life in the struggle for independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine. His memory is perpetuated in the memorial plaque placed on the facade of the local school. Reference: Vasily Gerasimchuk was born on 12 November 1948. In 1963 he graduated from Mitkowski school. In the Armed Forces on active duty from November 22, 1967. He graduated from the Kazan higher tank school. In the Republic of Afghanistan from may 1982. In the automobile convoy, which he headed, 6 August 1982 near the village of Samangan spooks carried out the attack. During the battle, guards major, commander of infantry battalion Vasily Gerasimchuk was seriously wounded but continued to direct the actions of subordinates. From the got wounds died on the same day. For courage and heroism was awarded the order of the red banner (posthumously). He was buried in his native village Mytkiv 21 August 1982.
