Chernihiv: the Competition for grants "to Support initiatives of civil education"

This competition for grants (hereinafter – the contest) is part of a Program promoting social activity "register!". The aim of the competition is to identify and support initiatives of civil society organizations (CSOS) aimed at raising awareness of citizens about their basic roles, rights and responsibilities in a democratic society and the promotion of a reasoned commitment to its purposes and principles. Such initiatives should be aimed at strengthening the mechanisms for public involvement, strengthening of anti-corruption public monitoring and supervision and improve the level of public participation. The purpose of this competition is to support initiatives that: · stimulate civil courage, knowledge, and skills among the public; · strengthen the capacity and participation of citizens in dialogue on issues of development of normative-legal acts, public monitoring and supervision to promote the implementation of the national reform programme; · encourage the involvement of citizens to effective national, regional and local civilian coalitions and initiatives; · support organizations, networks and coalitions in the planning of programmes based on gender and inclusiveness. Events and activities within projects can include, but are not limited to, the following: · online/offline, audio-visual training; · extra-curricular educational activities regarding public participation mechanisms; · education for youth and adults in the rights and responsibilities of citizens; · increase the awareness and involvement of citizens to fight corruption; · program media, financial and civic literacy; · informing citizens about the process of implementation of reforms through regional and local media; · increased sensitivity of wide layers of the population to the integration of persons with disabilities, internally displaced persons, ethnic minorities, persons with different sexual orientation (LGBT) people and other vulnerable groups. Expected results: · increase the number of citizens involved in civil society and civic engagement; · increase the number of citizens who are willing to devote more efforts to the fight against corruption; · increase the level of civil literacy in Ukraine; Eligibility criteria: · officially registered CSOS or consortia of registered NGOs from all regions of Ukraine with the established organizational and operational structure; · proven experience consolidating and coordinating regional and local networks and reach out to various segments of the population through civic education and engagement of citizens; · proven experience of advocacy and promotion of democratic reforms, including the fight against corruption; · experience developing and using various tools to involve citizens. Selection criteria: · compliance with the stated objectives of the competition; · established organizational structure; · ability to consolidate and attract stakeholders from non-governmental sector and representatives of different segments of the population; · demonstrated experience in building relations with communities and citizens. · striving to achieve sustainable results that will continue after the end of the project. Preference will be given to projects which: · include a wide range of stakeholders as partners (including governments, media, businesses and the like); · contain a plan of sustainable development; · offering innovative approaches to the tasks of the competition. The indicative duration of the grant: up to 9 months. Grant size: support up to 25 initiatives with an average budget of ,000 each. The deadline for submission of proposals is March 6, 2017, 17:00.
