Chernigov: "the Ukrainian revolution: Fi'connection of generations"
current developments in Ukraine very closely connected with the events of the Ukrainian revolution 100 years ago. This position is voiced by the participants of the round table "the Ukrainian revolution: generations", held in Chernihiv on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Ukrainian revolution of 1917-1921 years. The event was attended by scholars, ATO veterans, representatives of state authorities and local self-government, public representatives, journalists, students and graduate students. It was organized by the Chernihiv city Council and Chernihiv regional state administration. In his welcoming speech to the participants of the round table, the Deputy mayor Oleksandr Lomako said that 100 years after the Ukrainian revolution, the events of those times, unfortunately, happen again. In particular, it is the Russian aggression in Ukraine, directed against its independence and self-determination in its further development. In his opinion, it is important to learn the lessons of the revolution of the 20th century and not repeat its mistakes, one of which was the lack of unity of political forces that is observed in Ukrainian politics. In their speeches, the speakers, among which: Tamara Demchenko, Sergey Butko, Vladimir Boyko, Sergey Lepyavko, Irina Etna, Alexander Yasenchuk, Alexander Shevchenko, had historical Parallels with the events of the revolution of the 20th century and expressed the General opinion that the revolution begun 100 years ago is still ongoing, due to the fact that not reached the goal. Because like 100 years ago, Ukraine has armed to protect their own civilizational choice and state sovereignty from Russian aggression. However, the roundtable participants noted the important achievements in the struggle of the Ukrainian people in those times, namely the Ukrainian people for the first time in the twentieth century, established an independent national power, which had all the attributes of statehood: territory, borders, symbols, government, army, money, language. Blue-and-yellow flag and coat of arms — the main state attributes — the current Ukrainian government took in the Ukrainian people's Republic. Interestingly, the flag raised at the time, city Council in Chernihiv was the inscription "long live freedom!" The slogan "Glory to Ukraine!" appeared during the Ukrainian revolution 100 years ago. Contemporary independent Ukraine is the successor of the statist traditions laid down by the revolution of 1917-1921 years. However, it is important to avoid repeating the mistakes of the revolution of the 20th century and to remember that national unity is a prerequisite for the preservation of statehood and independence.
