In the Zhytomyr region of 5% of the Road Fund should be directed to ensuring of traffic safety
From 1 January 2018 5% of the Road Fund should be directed at ensuring road safety. This was stated by Minister of infrastructure Volodymyr Omelian during a speech at the fifth meeting of the regional development Council under the chairmanship of the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, held on 20 March 2017 in Kiev. "Given that on the Ukrainian roads is still a large mortality rate, the local authority must develop and submit to the Ministry proposals for measures for traffic safety at the expense of these funds", - said Vladimir Omelian. The Minister of infrastructure said that needs to be enhanced the rate of repair of roads: "the List of objects to be financed at the expense of the state budget, already approved by the Government. In the shortest possible time should be the necessary tender procedures to ensure the timely start of the construction season in 2017". Vladimir Omelian also noted that 1 January 2018 will be the decentralization of Ukravtodor, 120 thousand km of public roads of local importance will be transferred to the management îáëäåðæàäì³í³ñòðàö³é6 "since the autumn of this year we will enter the first pilot case studies on regions for the transfer of roads on the balance sheets of municipalities. The state, on the balance of Ukravtodor, will not exceed 50 thousand km of roads". According to the Minister, also agreed with the Ministry elaborated and approved by Ukravtodor, the Plan of main measures for implementing the legislation on the decentralization of road management and its financing and clear for the phased implementation of reforms. In 2017 there will be an inventory of local roads, which are subject to transfer, and coordinated the lists with the appropriate RSA. Should be created a joint Commission on the transfer of roads.
