In Volyn region the joint efforts of prosecutors and social activists are making a difference in the fight against corruption. .
The Prosecutor's office in the Volyn region held a joint briefing of the Deputy Prosecutor of the Volyn region Serhiy Yefremov and representatives of all-Ukrainian movement of countering political corruption “Under control” on the topic “Current issues of combating corruption. Cooperation of prosecutors with community activists in exposing violations in the activities of local self-government bodies and Executive authorities”. Opening the briefing, Serhiy Yefremov said that the corruption in the Volyn region intensified significantly. Last year, the court directed the production of 53 criminal offenses with signs of corruption, of which 31 about receiving improper benefits. Criminal charges were brought against 59 individuals, including 29 law enforcement officers. Specially authorized sub’objects in the field of combating corruption prepared and sent to the court 74 the Protocol on administrative offences, floor’connected with corruption. The results of their trial 50 officials of different ranks were brought to administrative responsibility. Already after 2 months of current year there are 16 corruption-related criminal offences, which started 13 criminal proceedings. The court has directed 12 productions, including 6 about receiving improper benefits. In addition, compiled 23 reports on administrative offenses of the floor’connected with corruption. Political analyst Sergei Taran and the Chairman of the NGO «Center for social action “Svetas”-the coordinator of the national Movement to counter political corruption “Under control” Mr Sihl, in turn, told about the main objectives of the Movement and the results of cooperation with prosecutors in the fight against corruption. In particular, during the cooperation with activists the Prosecutor's office received 18 reports of possible abuses by officials of different rank, the regional Prosecutor's office checked carefully with the involvement of representatives of law enforcement bodies and bodies of control of the area. By results of processing of the information provided by activists, in most cases, it was confirmed.
