The experience of the community of Ternopil region presented at the V Forum of local government

March 24-25 in Lviv was held the fifth Forum of local self-government. The two-day event gathered more than 500 specialists from all over Ukraine and international experts. They discussed actual problems and prospects in the sphere of local government, enhancing the role of appropriate bodies in ensuring development of the state and shared experiences. The region was represented by Deputy Chairman of regional state administration Oleg Shafts and Director of the Center for development of local self-government Viktor lytvynchuk, together with representatives of a number of integrated local communities. They participated in panel discussions of the Forum and met with representatives of Ukrainian and foreign business structures. Was interesting meeting and behind the scenes of the Forum. "Such an event as the Forum of local self-government gave new impetus to the reform of decentralization. Thus, the Ternopil region is a unique region, where he formed 36 consolidated territorial communities. However, there are many problems that require solutions. And such events give the opportunity to find many answers and to develop models that are then able to practice the use of representatives of the United territorial communities", - noted the Chairman of regional state administration Oleg Shafts. In General, the forum representatives of government, GSS, international organizations and diplomatic corps, Ukrainian and foreign experts in the sphere of local self-government considered the issues of assessment of local government and its role in the processes of strengthening and development of Ukraine. "During the event we discussed a lot of issues. They talked about e-governance and Smart City, decentralization in the health sector, reform of the legislation concerning urban planning. Special attention was focused on a strategic approach to the development of cities and regions, the state and prospects of settlement of the organizational and legal aspects of local democracy in Ukraine. Among other issues, the achievements and challenges of education decentralization, administrative services at GSS, best practices in local government, the reform of the housing sector in the context of decentralization," - said the Director of the Center for development of local self-government Viktor lytvynchuk.
