In the Ternopil regional state administration held a seminar on "the dissemination of the replacement of gas with alternative fuels and development of renewable energy sources" organized by Department of development of transport infrastructure and energy efficiency of the state administration with the assistance and support of the Saee, USAID, the regional and city councils. Participation in the event was attended by representatives of structural divisions of regional state administrations, the consolidated territorial communities, public organizations. With welcoming speech to the participants addressed first Vice-Chairman of regional state administration Ivan Krysak: "the Issue of energy efficiency is important and relevant for our region. In the structure of energy resources consumption in the region dominated by natural gas, on the second place is electrical energy, in terms of 2016 are, respectively, 64 and 30 percent of the total consumption. Thus, the use of alternative energy sources, primarily local fuels (peat, wood, straw, vegetal waste, agriculture and processing industry) is one of the solutions to improving energy security. The oblast almost 70% can replace natural gas consumption with alternative energy sources". During the seminar, the Director of the Department of renewable energy of Saee Yuriy Shafarenko, presented the economic benefits and peculiarities of implementation in Ukraine "green" projects. "Implementation of projects on renewable energy has many advantages. First and foremost, this is a continuation of the chosen course to energy independence, economic growth in the region, attraction of investments, creation of new jobs, additional revenues to local budgets", – said Yuriy Shafarenko. The Director of the Department of renewable energy of Saee also noted the importance of community engagement to use renewable energy sources and noted that due to the work carried out by the Department of infrastructure, transport and energy saving, residents of Ternopil region are extremely active in the transition to a solar panel: "Ternopil oblast occupies the second place among regions of Ukraine on number of households who have installed solar electrical installations. Now the region has more than 120 private solar plants". "The impetus for many households was introduced in 2015 and is tied to the Euro "green" tariff for electricity generated by such installations up to 30 kW. This means that households can sell excess generated solar energy to the network at a very favorable rate. For those who have installed solar panels in 2017, the rate is 18.09 cents/kWh", - said Yuri Shafarenko. The workshop participants had the opportunity to see the advantages of replacement of gas with alternative fuels and development of renewable energy.
