The clergy of different denominations held a memorial service for all the heroes who perished in the fierce battle defending their Homeland. Together with Metropolitan Lutsky and the Volynsk Mikhail all present prayed for the souls of victims during the Second world war, remembering those who protect the peaceful sky over Ukraine. The participants with a minute of silence in memory of those killed during the Second world war. Later, representatives of the authorities and the public laid flowers at the foot of the memorial sign “Wounded soldier” and jointly sang the national Anthem of Ukraine. Acting mayor Igor Polishchuk addressed the audience with words of gratitude for the fact that he gave his tribute to the victims of the Second world war. “A Day of remembrance and reconciliation in Ukraine recalls one of the most painful chapters of its history. During the Second world war, millions of Ukrainians died at the front, tortured in concentration camps and torture chambers. Remember their heroic feat — it is our duty and a lesson for future generations to Ukrainian history never repeat such a tragic page”, - he stressed. This was reported in Lutsk city Council
