Stepan Barna: the reform of the main library branch is not only to unite but also to strengthen libraries

to save libraries in a rural location and create around them a kind of educational centers, experts in the framework of the pilot project, "Library country" working on the best mechanism for reform of the library sector and examine the situation of cultural and educational institutions. About this program "Accents week", which is released every Thursday on the channel "TTB", said the Chairman of the Ternopil regional state administration Stepan Barna. According to him, the system of libraries in the region in particular and Ukraine in General is not in good condition. This is especially true of libraries in rural areas, where nothing has changed since 1991. "No matter how sad it is to admit, but in libraries for quite some time was the update of the library collection, many of them do not even have computers, although this is a requirement of time. So our strategy is not only unite, but also to strengthen the library network. We do not aim to close rural libraries and translate them to school, and plan to reduce the number of libraries by uniting them into one at school. Respectively, due to the savings, invest them in those libraries that continue to create the right conditions to stay there for the readers, to enrich the library funds and to provide logistical component," said Stepan Barna. At the same time, he stressed that where there are school libraries, one rural libraries will not be closed. "The main task is to make and keep around the library a kind of educational centre of village life. I think that in this sense, we find support not only the regional budget and local budgets and budgets of territorial communities", – concluded the head of the field. This was reported in the Ternopil regional state administration
