In Zhitomir honored the memory of victims of political repressions of 1937-1938
In Zhytomyr representatives of the authorities and the public honored the memory of victims of political repressions of 1937-1938. The event was held on may 19, near a memorable sign to victims of political repressions on the site of the execution of citizens. This year marks 80 years since the beginning of the Great terror – the mass political repression. Representatives of the authorities, the public, relatives of the victims, the students honored the memory of the repressed with a minute of silence and laid flowers to the memorial sign. Reference: June 2, 1937, adopted a resolution of the Politburo of the CPSU (b) PB-51/94 "On anti-Soviet elements", according to which, on 5 August 1937 came the NKVD order No. 0044, which marked the beginning of massive repression. By mid-November 1938, no court 681 692 were issued death sentences that were executed immediately. More than 1.7 million people were sent to camps.
