Gennady Zubko and European officials have opened a center for the development of local government.
On Europe Day, in Zhytomyr opened the Centre for the development of local self-government in the framework of the project "U-LEAD with Europe." This is another regional hub of decentralization, combining different projects and sector reform, strengthen local government and to provide practical assistance in implementing changes. There should be a hub of the most intelligent and responsible people. This was stressed by Vice Prime Minister – Minister of regional development, construction and housing and communal services Gennady Zubkov during a working trip to Zhytomyr and the opening of the office, which took place on may 20. Hennadiy Zubko emphasized that the Office will not only cooperate with public organizations, regional state administration and regional Council, and primarily with communities. Communities seeking to take on powers of their own, experience and labor to make a better life for Ukrainian families. — "Donetsk oblast in the top three the number of communities, and I really want to see the region become a leader in the quality of life in those communities – namely in education, healthcare, security, planning of territories, administrative service, security. But the most powerful investment here is an investment in young people who can learn to take responsibility and change our Ukraine as a European country," — said Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine. During the opening of the Office of the Chairman of regional state administration Igor Gundich noted that the Zhytomyr region is in the lead for creating a unified territorial communities. "But you have to not only create, but to do everything in order for community leaders on how to properly and effectively manage communities. That is why pinning very high hopes on the cooperation with the Office reforms, and wish a successful start employees. I also thank the Vice Prime Minister Hennadii Zubko and European colleagues for the comprehensive assistance", – said Igor Gundich. In the opening of the regional office decentralization in Zhitomir was also attended by the Chairman of the regional Council Vladimir Shirma, mayor Sergei Suhomlin, people's Deputy of Ukraine Borislav Rosenblatt, Chairman of group of support of Ukraine the European Commission Peter Wagner, Head of cooperation programmes of the EU delegation to Ukraine Berend de Groot, the managers of the program U-LEAD with Europe Bastian, Faigel and Kameran Khudur. After the opening of the Center held a round table "Decentralization. Local reform in Zhytomyr region: achievements and challenges" with the participation of the state, region, city, European partners and diplomats.
