Round table "reducing HIV prevalence" was held in Chernihiv
Last week on the basis of the Chernihiv city center of social services for family, children and youth held a round table "reducing HIV prevalence" with the participation of representatives of BO "network Chernihiv", Chernihiv city Department of probation Central inter-regional Department for execution of punishment and probation, Ministry of justice, the district sectors of the Chernihiv city Department of probation Central inter-regional Department for execution of punishment and probation, Ministry of justice and city center of social services. Present at this meeting discussed issues related to the implementation of the project "HIV Prevention, testing and treatment of youth and women in conflict with the law in Ukraine." Project Executive - international organization HealthRight International (Right to health) in cooperation with the ICF "Ukrainian Foundation for public health". The project is funded by the AIDS Foundation of Elton John and is being implemented in 5 regions of Ukraine: Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhia, Kharkiv and Chernihiv regions. The subject of the grant – BO "Chernigov network". Reducing HIV prevalence among prisoners (youth and women) and improving access to HIV testing, treatment for individuals who are in conflict with the law – that is the goal of the project, which should be implemented until September 2019. Objectives of the project: - comprehensive social support, prevention and HIV testing of prisoners, probation and parole and the liberated young people, and those who are at risk; - reducing the number of cases involving risk of HIV infection, relapse prevention in educational colonies; - training and capacity-building for service providers on prevention and HIV testing, and a reduction in the risk of recurrence. The project provides carrying out work for the 158 adolescents and youth in the district sectors of the Chernihiv city Department of probation (coverage of individual and group services, educational activities, HIV prevention and risk reduction of recurrence) - on a weekly basis. It is expected that the result of the implementation of the project will be: - increased capacity of service providers on integrated case management, prevention and HIV testing, as well as the implementation of educational and preventive measures on reducing risk of relapse; - improved knowledge about HIV and awareness of behaviour among young people; - improved access to HIV services for young persons in conflict with the law or are at risk; - improved cooperation of state and public organizations in the implementation and further dissemination of the project's achievements.
