As the head of Uzhgorod local Prosecutor's office Dmitry Kirilenko, the monitoring of the information space, the Prosecutor's office revealed information that flew around the Internet about “snesual work” on another historical landmark of the city. We are talking about the destruction of the store Fundance in Uzhgorod, under the form of "reconstruction" with the superstructure of a residential building on the street. Given the resonance, which acquired the event and violation of the Law of Ukraine “On protection of cultural heritage”, Uzhgorod local Prosecutor's office initiated criminal proceedings on the fact of destruction of a historic building with store Fundance in Uzhgorod, which is listed in the historical-architectural basic plan of the city as object of cultural heritage with the appropriate security status. (part 2 of article 298 of the criminal code of Ukraine). The Prosecutor stressed that the sanction of part 2 of article 298 UK of Ukraine - deliberate illegal destruction, destruction or damage of objects'cultural heritage objects or parts thereof – provides for punishment by a fine of up to one hundred p'fifty non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens or restraint of liberty for a term up to three years, or imprisonment for the same term, with deprivation of the right to occupy certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term up to three years or without it.
