Stepan Barna: Changes in the country is possible only after changes in the consciousness of each of us
30 June in Ternopil, on the occasion of the 76th anniversary of the act of restoration of the Ukrainian state and the 110th anniversary of the birthday of the Chief commander of the UPA Roman Shukhevych was held a memorial prayer service with the participation of the clergy. Participation in the celebrations was also attended by the Chairman of the Ternopil regional state administration Stepan Barna, Deputy Yuri Yurik, as well as representatives of the city of Ternopil. "A lot of thoughts occurs, analyzing the period of the Ukrainian people, when we fought for statehood. A lot of generations of Ukrainians gave their lives. This period was extremely difficult and now we can only evaluate through era and personality. That's why, when we recall the period of 1941 and the attempts of the Ukrainian elite, headed by Yaroslav Stetsko to restore Ukrainian statehood, we understand that this is an indication that in spite of dictatorial regimes, Ukraine gained its independence," – said the head of the field during the laying of flowers. He stressed that now we must not retreat and must do everything in order to become part of the European community. "Only these steps will be worth nothing without the change of consciousness of each of us and without realizing that the guys on the Maidan and on the front lines gave their lives for Ukraine's European choice. Therefore, feeling the responsibility before many generations of fighters who gave and give their lives and health in shelters, we need to understand that the changes in the state begins with each of us. Therefore the day of resumption of the Ukrainian state, on the birthday of Roman Shukhevych urge all of you, remembering about them, recognize their duty and responsibility in front of Ukraine", – said Stepan Barna.
