Citizens support the idea of holding re-elections of city Council

More than half of residents of Chernivtsi support the idea of termination of powers and holding early elections of Chernivtsi city Council. Such data are published on 3 July, the organizers of a sociological study “the Chernivtsi and Chernivtsi”, which was held in Chernivtsi from 18 to 27 June 2017. According to the survey, most respondents (54%) support the idea of termination of authority and early elections of the city Council. A third of respondents (31 %) consider it expedient to hold elections of the mayor. 7 % of respondents are undecided with the answer. With the aim of strengthening the foundations of local self-government, the development of the territorial community of the city of Chernivtsi, protection of the rights and freedoms of citizens in accordance with article 78 of the law of Ukraine "About local government in Ukraine" mayor Alex Kaspruk in April p.g. filed a motion to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on appointment in accordance with the law early elections of Chernivtsi city Council. Alex Kaspruk referring to the community of Chernivtsi noted that the convinced that, simultaneously with the extraordinary elections of city Council to be held and the election of the mayor, and he was ready for them . "Responsibility for the year lost to the city opportunities, discouragement of Chernivtsi, a betrayal of the Testament of our glorious predecessors must be shared", – said Alexei Kaspruk. At the same time, the leaders of the factions on the city Council in public comments, the media holding the early elections of Chernivtsi city Council did not support. Sociological study of “the Chernivtsi and Chernivtsi” conducted the Center for sociological research of the Philosophical-theological faculty of Chernivtsi national University named after Yuriy Fedkovych, the NGO “Institute for local self” and the Chernivtsi regional organization of society ”Knowledge” of Ukraine. The population is 190 thousand people (citizens aged 18 years and older who are entitled to vote). Sample size: 1 515 people. Sample – two-stage, stochastic, stratified; representative by age and sex. Limit the statistical sampling error (excluding design effect) is of 2.53 % at P=95%. Survey method: Personal formalized interview (“face to face”). Data collection was carried out by 43 respondents, mostly students-sociologists. This was reported in the Chernivtsi city Council
