The 27th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration about state sovereignty: the historical significance of the document and the contribution of Chernigiv in the building of the independent state

July 16, 1990 the Verkhovna Rada of the Ukrainian SSR adopted the Declaration on state sovereignty of Ukraine. This weekend, Ukrainians celebrated the 27th anniversary of this historic event. Yesterday, 17 July, representatives of authorities, political parties, public organizations, and scientists gathered at a round table to discuss the historic significance of the adoption of the Declaration and its impact on the subsequent course of the struggle for independence of Ukraine. — Now we have an opportunity to talk about history, politics, citizenship to those who was not just a witness but an active participant in the events of the late 80's-early 90-ies, the people who fought in those years the independent Ukrainian state, — said the Deputy Chairman – chief of staff of regional state administration Natalia Romanova. Also the Vice-chair noted that 27 years after the Declaration of Ukraine approached the fulfillment of all parts of the items. Only now, through changes in the Constitution and the decentralization processes initiated by the President of Ukraine, the country has become the way of real transfer of rights to local communities.
