In Chernihiv the first stage of excavations on the site of the Shaft is completed
In Chernihiv on-site Shaft more than three weeks of excavations were carried out. The archaeologists during the excavation works found outbuildings, household items and jewelry periods XII-XV century. Among the findings: the particles of Byzantine glass painting, porcelain plates, bracelets of glass, knives, weights loom, and the remains of a rare object – the lime kiln. Such furnaces the times of Kievan Rus until now has been known only two: in Kiev and Suzdal. According to senior researcher NAIZ "ancient Chernihiv" Tatiana Novik, these things at the time were real jewels and used them for wealthy people. Excavations were conducted in a small area, but findings from a scientific point of view - the rich. The cultural layer in this area of the Citadel by later excavations and construction of virtually not damaged. In the XVII century in this area was the monastery premises. All the excavation findings will be categorized and described, and then will be analyzed using additional special methods of investigation.
