In Chernihiv, there is a delegation of volunteers of the US Peace Corps in Ukraine
17 March in Chernihiv city Council met the delegation of U.S. citizens, Peace Corps volunteers of the United States of America in Ukraine. 27 volunteers will live and work in the city over the next three months. The meeting was held with the participation of representatives of structural subdivisions of city Council, Chernihiv higher educational institutions, law enforcement agencies and the media. Head of Department for strategic city development and tourism city Council Borys Atroshchenko, on behalf of the mayor of Chernihiv Vladislav Atroshenko and city Council congratulated the guests. He noted that launched by John Kennedy in 1960, the movement increasingly began to combine the romantic impulse of concerned U.S. citizens with the pragmatic work that gives concrete results and is extremely interesting for the citizens of Chernihiv in the direction of development of local territorial communities and linguistic skills. According to the curator by training Natalia Koltko, the purpose of the three-month program is to familiarize with cultural and domestic features of Ukrainians, the mastery of the Ukrainian language. In addition, this year the work of volunteers will involve the development of civil society and methods of teaching English. For them this is very important, because the further work of volunteers in Ukraine will last two years. Then the American volunteers of the Ukrainian language spoke briefly about himself and asked questions that arose from them in the process of communication.
