Ternopil regional state administration and the NGO "Ternopil press-club" signed Memorandum on cooperation
a Memorandum on cooperation between the Ternopil regional state administration and public organization "Ternopil press-club" was signed on 16 February at the premises of Ternopil regional state administration. The purpose of this cooperation — provide assistance in resolving legal issues, increasing professionalism and the development of newspaper management executives and employees of the public Newspapers in Ternopil region, which are in the process of privatization. "As international experience shows, independent media is a prerequisite for building a democratic society. Therefore, the reform of privatization of the print media is one of the most important in our country", — said the Chairman of public organization "Ternopil press-club" Angela Cardinal. Ternopil press club with the support of "Ukrainian media project" (U-Media), implemented in Ukraine international public organization "Internews network and funded by United States Agency international development (USAID), will implement the project "Integrated support of print media in different regions of Ukraine in the process of privatization and the establishment of their independent activities." In turn, the Ternopil regional state administration will ensure that managers and teams public Newspapers of the area about project activities, and will also facilitate participation in them. "Over the past two years in Ukraine there are many reform initiatives, including one of the most important is the deregulation of the print media. This once again confirms the irreversible democratic changes. Cooperation with Ternopil press club in this context is very important, because one of the highlights of privatization is informational and social campaigns, seminars and training, where journalists and the public will learn about the stages of this process", — said the Deputy Chairman of the Ternopol regional state administration Yury Eureka. The implementation of the Memorandum will allow to organize a series of free trainings, legal consultations, as well as the coverage and discussion of the process of privatization of the media in the region and exchange of experience with four other regions of Ukraine — Transcarpathian, Zhytomyr, Sumy and Kherson.
