Every year in Ukraine there are about 25 thousand fires in ecosystems

Participation the meeting was attended by Deputy Chairman – chief of staff of the Zhytomyr regional state administration Oleksy Lacunarity and members of the regional Commission on questions TEB and emergency situations. "To prevent fires in natural ecosystems is a crucial question, especially now. Starts the hot period and it is therefore necessary to take all measures to prevent massive fires in forests, peatlands, agricultural lands. We must demonstrate the same concerted action of all departments, as during the liquidation of consequences of emergency situations in the city of balakliia. In the short time we have managed to reduce 10-km zone of contamination munitions to 150 meters and people have already started agricultural work in the fields. So this is a Prime example of the interaction of all bodies, should be in the issue of fighting fires in ecosystems", - said Gennady Zubko. In turn, the Chairman of gschs Nikolai Chechetkin said that every year in Ukraine there are about 25 thousand fires in forests, peatlands, agricultural lands on the total area over 31 thousand hectares. Last year thanks to timely taken preventive measures, constant monitoring of the situation and prompt response for all fires managed to reduce the number of fires in ecosystems. In particular, forest fires 2.5 times and 2.3 times, on the moor - 2 times, and an area 6 times on farmlands by 35 %. "This year we have already fix the negative statistics on the increase in fires in ecosystems. Thus, the number of forest fires compared to the same period last year has doubled, and the area - three times. The greatest aggravation of the situation expected in may, when people start a mass visit to the forest in July-August during the burning of crop residues. It is therefore necessary to urgently adopt a number of preventive measures to prevent fires in ecosystems. First and foremost, to strengthen the preventive work with citizens, conduct enhanced monitoring of the fire situation and implement fire-prevention arrangement of the forests",- said Mykola Chechetkin.
