In Ternopil solemnly opened a memorial plaque to George Petruk-Priest

30 April in Ternopil held a solemn opening of a memorial plaque to the founder of the first in Ukraine Ternopil regional organization of National Rukh of Ukraine Georgy Mikhailovich Petruk-Priest. Rainy weather and a day did not prevent the fans of his work, professional and community achievements to be collected in their memories to recall the outstanding contribution of this person in the history of Ternopil region and Ukraine. George M. Petruk-Popik was born 18 April 1932 in the village of Velyka Ilovytsya shums'kyi district, died 15 June 2006 in Ternopil. By profession he was a doctor, but also known as a Ukrainian poet, prose writer, publicist and public figure. Selected verses from these books translated into Bulgarian, Italian and Russian languages. Works of nonfiction of the kind published in Ukrainian foreign journals. The poems of George Petruk-Popik and co-authored with him the composers-songwriter has written more than 50 musical works. George M. Petruk-Priest became the initiator of creation of the Ternopil regional organization of Society of the Ukrainian language named after Taras Shevchenko, the Memorial. Nzuvw creation and for a long time headed the first in Ukraine Ternopil regional organization of National Rukh of Ukraine, was a member of the Central Wire NIA. In April 1989, expelled from the Communist party for participation in the creation of the Movement. 1990 was elected people's Deputy of the former USSR.
