Ternopil: Terebovlyansk – the world embroidered iconostasis

The uniqueness is that nowhere in the world is one piece of the iconostasis, as in Tutekov, composed of only images, hand-embroidered with beads. At its creation took a year and a half. Each of the icons embroidered by one of the families of the parish. According to the estimates of masters, just used 1 million 436 thousand 433 beads. Weight they created icons – 17 kg 724 g, and their total area of 7.12 sq. m. To create the iconostasis of beads have decided, together with the parishioners, the rector, father Stepan Sucanat. He found masters who have embodied the unusual idea. The work was very laborious. Only the iconostasis consists of 18 images. "We wanted to do something exclusive, but at the same time close to the people. Hand-drawn iconography often creates an artist. And this is the work of ordinary, simple people, our embroiderers. They are local, some live abroad. We consulted together, picked up the color", says father Stepan. "I already have 20 years of experience, many go to Church, but have never seen," adds the proud priest. When the work was completed 18 images inlaid in a wooden frame, and lime were combined in a 3-tiered iconostasis. Saints embroidered in the same style, with the observance of Church canons. Thanks to the beads seem to come alive. Getting on the beads, the light creates a three-dimensional effect of the 3D image. Extra the glare "takes" a special glass that is covered with icons.
