Chernivtsi city Council fifth time she joined the campaign of the world wildlife Fund and announced in the city on 19 March from 20.30 to 21.30 "Earth Hour", as a symbol of concern for the Planet's future and unity in the desire to protect nature. All over the world will turn off their lights for one hour – earth Hour. The action is supported by the State Agency on energy efficiency and energy saving of Ukraine. Earth hour was started in 2007 by the world wildlife Foundation WWF in Australia to attract attention to the problem of climate change. In 2008, this successful campaign has spread the world, it was attended by over 50 million people in 35 countries. Ukraine joined the world campaign in 2009. Last year joined more than 7000 cities in 162 countries around the world. The campaign in Ukraine was joined by more than 55 cities and towns, including Kiev, Odessa, Lviv and Chernivtsi. In addition to the symbolic light off for an hour, the current campaign focuses on the need and unconditional benefits of daily actions of each citizen in the sphere of energy efficiency, economical use of energy resources and the like.
