March 29, on the basis of CRB “Lviv Neftebaza” in the city of Lviv held a tactical demonstration exercises on extinguishing fires in warehouses and tank farms storage, transportation of oil and oil products. To practice as training for personal and governing the units of state emergency service of Lviv techniques and ways of fighting fires in warehouses and tank farms storage, transportation of oil and oil products. On the territory of Lviv tank farm stored gasoline and diesel fuel. Oil products are delivered from the tank farm by railway tankers, and then with the help of the pumping station are pumped into the tanks according to the marking of fuel. Further by means of a pump rising mains diesel fuel or gasoline is poured into the tanker truck. According to the tactical plan, in the tank where the petrol caught fire. The fire occurred as a result of flash gas vapor, resulting in an explosion with subsequent isolation of the tank cover. Upon arrival, fire and rescue units burned the entire surface area of the tank.
