In Zhytomyr opened the House of Ukrainian culture and the biggest doll-motanka.

In Zhitomir on April 21, took place the solemn opening of the cultural centre of Zhytomyr region – Home of Ukrainian culture. The event was attended by Zhytomyr city mayor Sergey Sukhomlin and Deputy Chairman of regional state administration Yaroslav Laguta. Near the monument to Taras Shevchenko made a real concert, where he performed choral chapel "Ouray", children's choir "Gloria". Visited this event and people's artist of Ukraine Nina Matvienko. — Yaroslav Laguta congratulated those present on the occasion and said: "I am deeply convinced that it is because of the lack of Ukrainian culture and consciousness we have now a difficult situation in the country. Very symbolic to see you at the event representatives of other national communities. This suggests that this cultural event has the support, regardless of religion and nationality. I very much hope that this House will unite culture not only of Zhitomir, but the whole region". — Also during the event, near the House of culture installed a doll-motanka, a height of three meters and fifty centimeters. This is the biggest motanka doll in Ukraine. Consequently, the representative of the Ukrainian Book of records during the opening established a new record for the biggest doll-motanka, which is produced to maintain correct and accurate proportions and according to the rules of traditional Ukrainian folk art. Ukrainian traditions the first in the house let the cat, which should protect the house. In the House of Ukrainian culture presented 6 exhibition halls with a large number of exhibits, including items of folk art, household items and even weapons of the Cossack era; paintings of the Zhytomyr artists; the area is known to the residents of Zhytomyr city and the like.
