The Zhytomyr region is the first in Ukraine signed the Memorandum on cooperation with the amber stock exchange.
In Zhitomir on June 14, signed the Memorandum on cooperation between Zhytomyr regional state administration Zhytomyr regional Council, Zhytomyr city mayor and International exchange, amber UAB "AMBER TRIP". Signed a document of intent, which outlined further steps the legalization of amber industry in the region, Chairman of regional state administration Serhiy Mashkovsky, head of the regional Council Anzhelika labunska, mayor Sergei Suhomlin and Director of UAB "AMBER TRIP" Giedrius Guntharius. The purpose of the Memorandum – the establishment and development of mutual cooperation and collaboration in the field related to the relations on the use of subsoil for the production and legal trade in amber, suppression and prevention of theft. The Chairman of regional state administration Sergey Mashkovsky noted that the Zhytomyr region there is a paradoxical situation: "we have many amber deposits, but at the same time, these areas are the most depressed. In these areas, people should use available resources on community development. The exchange is another step towards the legalization of amber mining. We were the first in Ukraine who signed the Memorandum with the international exchange. It is important for us to not remain on paper as a document of intent, and became the basis for further action the legalization of amber mining". The next step after the signing of the Memorandum must be the creation of the municipal enterprise for the extraction of amber. It, according to the Chairman of the regional Council of Angelica Labunska, plan to create at the next session of regional Council: "we Have huge resources, has the necessary infrastructure. But you need to have all happened in a legal way. I hope for exchange of experience in mining and land rehabilitation". Municipal enterprise that is envisioned, will engage not only the extraction and processing of amber and to be responsible for reclamation of the land after industrial activities. Giedrius Gontarz said: "All the amber society doesn't like the chaos that has developed in Ukraine. On our exchange collected about hundreds of companies from Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Baltic States. 300 companies are buying amber through our exchange. Looking at the situation in Zhytomyr, it is worth noting that, not so many to dig, how much is dug. This needs to be adjusted. If a person uses the soil, then it needs to reclaim the land, return it to its original state". According to mayor Sergei Sukhomlin's, this landmark project that "does not descend from above". "We are developing the site of the industrial Park. It can become a platform for mining amber. In addition to close location to the capital, Zhitomir has its own airport that will help to establish cooperation with other countries. I'm interested in this project worked in Zhytomyr" he said.
