The Prosecutor of the Volyn Maxim Kirichuk: "Real progress in borotba crime is reached!"
The Prosecutor's office of Volyn under the chairmanship of the Prosecutor of the region Maxim Kirichuk, a meeting was held, which summed up the work of prosecution bodies of the region in the first half of 2016. Opening the meeting, the Prosecutor of the region noted that the prosecutors region made efforts to ensure law and order in the region, but due to the low performance of the investigative and operational units of the police in the area and shortcomings of local prosecutors in implementing the procedural management of real progress in the fight against crime has not been achieved. Overall crime increased almost 40 percent. The crime rate on 10 thousand population has also increased by one third (from 49.7 to 69.3), although lower than the national average. In the field increased the number of especially serious crimes. The third was from Volyn crimes – heavy, and their number has also increased by 40 percent. Continued growth (more than half) of crimes against property, and all categories of robbery ( by 76.9%);- robbery ( 70,6%); extortion ( 50%); fraud (28.5%). More than three quarters of criminal offences against property is theft, have occurred in the region nearly 4 thousand. Every tenth - of apartments. Almost every third crime is committed by persons who previously did it, and each n ' fifth in a condition of alcoholic SP’intoxication. These problems point to shortcomings in the work of law enforcement. In police reform, established regional, inter-regional units with different levels of subordination, the interaction between them is poor. However, the process of reform cannot be an excuse for weakening the work. Combating crime in Volhynia, especially – an offence of corruption, smuggling, illegal production of amber, deforestation requires concerted action of law enforcement. Summing up, the Prosecutor Volyn Maxim Kirichuk stressed that the prosecution needed to urgently solve a series of challenging tasks to strengthen the rule of law in the region. The meeting identified measures aimed at increase of efficiency of activity of bodies of Prosecutor's office and the main tasks for the next period.
