Chernigov: world day against trafficking in persons

Recently, on 30 July it was celebrated the world day against trafficking in persons. Among the worst violations of human rights in the modern world is a crime that has many names – "white slavery", trafficking", "smuggling people." According to the International labour organization, more than 21 million people worldwide are victims of forced labour. Men, women and children fall into the hands of traffickers in their countries and abroad. This problem remains urgent for Ukraine. According to a study by IOM since 1991, more than 160,000 Ukrainians have suffered from human trafficking, making Ukraine one of the main countries of origin of victims of modern slavery in Europe. World day against trafficking in persons established by the General Assembly of the United Nations in 2013 and celebrated in the international days UN July 30. In Chernihiv region cooperation has been established between the subjects that carry out activities in the sphere of combating human trafficking, namely : the Department of family, youth and sports of the regional state administration, Department for combating crimes connected with human trafficking, General Directorate of National police in Chernihiv region, the regional center of social services for family, children and youth public organization "Chernihiv public Committee of human rights protection". With the aim of creating high-quality and safe environment for the life of the population works in the region of the regional Integrated programme of family support, gender equality and combating trafficking in human beings for the period until 2016. Currently the draft programme for future years. Just Chernihiv region set 21 status of persons who suffered from human trafficking. Each person who has the status provided rehabilitation aid, comprising: -psychological and socio-pedagogical assistance; -assistance in medical examination and treatment; -help in registration of necessary documents, certifying the identity; -assistance in obtaining education, skills, retraining or employment; -one-time financial assistance to address priority needs. On the occasion of world day against trafficking in persons and to raise awareness in all segments of the population, especially groups of "risk" in relation to trafficking, the Department of family, youth and sports of the regional state administration made to cry (3,000 copies) with information about the risks of falling into a situation of human trafficking and possibilities of assistance. Information material distributed in the centers of employment, centers of social services for family, children and youth, the territorial divisions of the migration service, police, educational, medical institutions of the region, in the premises of village councils, as well as on the official websites of regional state administrations and respective councils. For those who want to get a good job abroad, you should pay attention to the fact that traffickers operate through employment agencies, businesses, entertainment and Dating service. Also they place false ads in Newspapers and stands, turning to the proposals on the street, to help financially to drag people into debt bondage. Remember that the victims are both women and men and minor children. If You or Your friends decided to go abroad: - check the proposed contract for employment or study abroad by a specialist; - make several photocopies of your passport, visas and other documents related to the trip, for You and Your family; - maintain constant communication with the relatives during the stay abroad; - trust your documents only to authorized persons (employees of the border services, police, etc), in any case, do not leave your passport as Deposit or for "registration".
