In the Rivne region district school rescuers jointly with the operational services eliminated conditional emergency
18 August, during a comprehensive inspection of the implementation of state policy in the field of civil protection and the organization of work on technological and fire safety in Berezno in the territory of the district school held special tactical exercises. During the event, the Commission gschs of Ukraine checked readiness of first responders Bereznovsky region for joint action in case of an emergency at about’object with mass stay of people. Thus, according to the tactical plan, the school one of the technicians had discovered a silvery substance about the’approximately 250 g, similar in appearance to mercury. The man that discovered this substance, became ill and he lost consciousness. At that time the school had 25 employees. The administration of the school immediately reported the accident to the rescue Service " 101» organized and immediate evacuation of everyone inside the institution. To place a call quickly arrived divisions of gschs, police, sanitary-epidemiological, medical, gas and energy services. Police was organized on duty at the scene around the perimeter. Rescuers wearing special protective suits and equipment of respiratory protection, entered the room of the gymnasium and removed the injured, who were immediately given to the employees of ambulance. After that employees of gschs inspected all the premises of the gymnasium and saw that in a danger zone people there. Next, rescuers together with the staff of sanitary-and-epidemiologic service have collected the suspicious substance and conducted demercurization of the premises of the educational institution and took air samples for subsequent analytical studies. Currently, the scene was established headquarters for disaster relief headed by the Chairman of the regional Council Leonid Kamenchuk. The expertise of epidemiologists showed that the detected substance is mercury, but due to the measures taken nobody was injured. For operating units of the rapid response were monitored closely by experts of the Commission of the SSES of Ukraine, which at the end of the exercises gave a principled assessment of the work of each civil protection district.
