The meeting was attended by Deputy of the mayor Yury Mollica, head of service for children Theodore Shulgan, Director of the Lutsk city center of social services for family, children and youth Lina Galan, Deputy Director of the Department of social policy Tatyana Koretskaya, representatives of public organizations who work to support foster families, guardians and caregivers of the orphanage of family type. According to him, as the primary account in service for children is a 161 child. Of these, 53 orphans and 108 children deprived of parental care. The children in this category are arranged under guardianship (128), foster family - 5, family type homes — 10, in state institutions — 17. During 2016 in luck adopted 12 children. Among the main problems that are associated with the adoption, Theodore Shulgan called mandatory pre-training for potential adoptive parents, as well as the medical examination of the future guardians and adoptive parents. He cites the example of the Republic where the binding is complete examination of physical and mental health, the lack of alcohol and drug abuse. At the same time, he noted that adoptive parents are willing to take custody of children with serious illnesses, while having the necessary capabilities to ensure the proper care for them. The Deputy of the mayor Yury Molica noted that the complex solution of problems related to social adaptation of orphans and children deprived of parental care is one of the important components of relevant units of the city Council. “Most socially unprotected layers of the population in Ukraine is the people that become a burden to society. Therefore, our task is to help them become productive members of society. In Europe, the orphans are no worse than their peers from nuclear families. They study, play sports, attend various clubs. In my opinion, is to encourage sport and cultural institutions in which to educate these children” - he stressed. The Director of the Lutsk city center of social services for family, children and youth Lina Galan said that a priority of the center is not only working with orphaned children, but with families who are in difficult life circumstances. The center is engaged in conducting various lectures and interviews to provide psychological support to families who are adoptive parents. The representative of the Volyn regional branch of all-Ukrainian charitable organization “children's Welfare” Mr. Watkins drew attention to the fact that in recent years Ukraine has significantly reduced the number of orphans in boarding schools. This suggests that the number of people who are willing to become foster parents is growing. So he finds it necessary to conduct a variety of trainings for foster families, adoptive parents and guardians. A series of similar workshops planned to start in conjunction with the service for children and center of social services for family, children and youth in the next year. This was reported in Lutsk city Council
