Slovenian city establish a friendly relationship with Chernivtsi

October 3, Chernivtsi mayor Alex Kaspruk and mayor of bled Janez Fajfar (Janez Faifar) have agreed to establish friendly relations between the cities of bled and Chernivtsi. They also discussed possible project ideas to revive the tourism business, the development of relations with the Chernivtsi National University named after Yuriy Fedkovych, where from 1916 to 1918, worked the world famous mathematician Joseph plemel (Josip Plemelj), a native of bled. The mayor Janez Fajfar that education is etnologia and Professor of geography, explores the history of his native city and tries to restore the historical and cultural ties with the European cities in which he worked his distinguished countrymen. He said that in 1907, Joseph plemel was appointed associate Professor of Chernivtsi University (at that time – Chernivtsi University named after Franz Joseph) and in 1908 a Professor of mathematics. From 1912 to 1913 he held the position of Dean of the philosophical faculty of the Chernivtsi University. With the advent of Th. Plemel the Chernivtsi University, in the words of Janez Fajfar, the development of mathematical science in it has quickened. In these years plemel was a foreign member of the German mathematical society, enjoyed great prestige among the mathematical community of Austria, has made a significant contribution to the development of mathematical education and science in Bukovina. The mayor of bled, also presented to the mayor of Chernivtsi with the basic ways of filling the city budget, the main role in this was allotted to tourism. So, a small bled (population about 7 thousand inhabitants), annually up to 400 thousand tourists from around the world. Janez Fajfar strongly encouraged the city Council to do everything necessary for the resumption of regular flights from the local airport in a European city. The sides confirmed the necessity of establishing friendly relations between the cities of bled and Chernivtsi, which are put together to honor the memory of Joseph plemel, as well as the following year's planned visit to Chernivtsi hoteliers from Slovenia.
