Chernigov: up To 72-th anniversary of the expulsion of the Nazis from Ukraine

world war II brought so many tragedies, treachery, and destroyed destinies that until all of humanity with sorrow and bitterness recalls those distant events that have affected almost everyone. It is impossible to describe in simple words. Complex formulations are also not suitable. It is impossible to Express what is felt by our fathers and grandfathers, mothers and grandmothers, whose eyes was the horror of one of the bloodiest wars on our planet. In our calendar there are many dates that remind you of those early years. Each of our city or town, region have the memory of this terrible war. On October 28 each year, according to the decree of the President of Ukraine dated 20 October 2009, is celebrated as the day of the final expulsion of the troops of Nazi Germany and its allies during the Second world war beyond the modern territory of Ukraine. It was the culminating result of a number of offensive operations, the most significant of which are: Donbass — from 13 August to 22 September 1943, Korsun-Shevchenko operation from 24 December 1943 to 17 February 1944, Lvov-Sandomierz — from 13 July to 29 August 1944 and final Eastern-Carpathian operation which was launched by troops and formations of the Soviet army, 8 September 1944 and led to the final liberation and the expulsion of the last of the Nazi invaders from the territory of Ukraine on 28 October 1944. On this day, as in the case of other dates the participation of Ukraine in the Second world war, we remember and honor the memory of those who defeated the Nazism in the Second world war 1939-1945, war veterans, participants of the Ukrainian liberation movement and the victims of Nazism. After all, the Ukrainian people have made not just significant and outstanding, sacrificial contribution to the victory over Nazism. Remember that the fronts of the Second world only in the ranks of the Soviet red army fought 7 million of our fellow citizens (of which 3.5 million were killed), and more than a quarter of a million soldiers in the ranks of other armies of the coalition, in the ranks of the Ukrainian insurgent army — 100 thousand soldiers. In General, the Ukrainian people have lost between 8.5 to 10 million of its sons and daughters. Despite such enormous casualties and huge material losses, Ukraine during the Second world war can rightly be considered part of the anti-Hitler coalition. For more than seven decades after the liberation of our country, we remember the glorious heroism of the veterans, partisans and underground fighters. All, thanks to whom our land was expelled the invaders. Veterans and participants of war, victims of Nazism, and in the future will be respected by the state and all the Ukrainian people, and their glorious deeds will remain in the memory of generations. Now, when our land was again conquered by an enemy, the descendants of those who liberated Ukraine in the 44th, were to defend its independence and freedom, showing continuity and the continuity of the contemporary defenders of Ukraine with the defenders of the native land of all generations. Measurement of Chernihiv in the Ukrainian contribution in the Second world war is simply amazing. In a region with a population of less than 2 million inhabitants only in 1941 was mobilized into the red army 10% of the population — almost 200 thousand people. After the expulsion of the Nazi occupiers from the region in 1943 — still 167 thousand people. The war killed 134.5 thousand of our countrymen. During the occupation, were killed and tortured 127 thousand inhabitants of Chernihiv region, over 41 thousand people taken to Germany for labour exploitation. Over the years the German-Soviet war from 1941 the population of the region decreased by 506 thousand people.
