In the Ternopil region Lithuania gave Vishneveckogo Palace collection of portraits of prominent princes

Grand opening of the exhibition "Princes Vishnevetskaya – common cultural heritage and historical memory of Lithuania and Ukraine" was held on 10 November in the village Vyshnivets, Zbarazh district. During the event, Lithuania gave Palace Vishnivetsky for the indefinite retention of a copy of the portraits of the princes Vyshnevetsky, which are kept in museums of Ukraine, Belarus, Lithuania. Participation in the event was attended by the Chairman of regional state administration Stepan Barna. "This year we started a new initiative – the holding of Festivals of locks. As a result, our attractions, including Vishnivetsky Palace, visited a lot more tourists. More than 20 castles of Ternopil closely connected with the history of our state, Poland and Lithuania. That is why it is so important that the Lithuanian side pays special attention to promotion of shared history and culture. It is very important to know and understand past events, to develop our relations in future", - said Stepan Barna. During the event, representatives from both sides agreed to continue promoting the history and culture of Lithuania on the territory of Ternopil region. Within this region, will implement joint projects in various industries. As you know, sharing cultural-historical heritage of Ukraine and Lithuania goes back thousands of artifacts that are of great value to researchers and art lovers. Michael Koribut Vishnevetsky was elected king of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania after the reign of the Swedish dynasty Vases when, finally, the throne was taken by "your" local candidate from the "Piast". His ancestor was Koribut – grandson of the founder of the whole dynasty of the Lithuanian Grand Duke Gediminas, son of Grand Duke Algirdas and Uliana of Tver, who took the Orthodox faith and was baptized by the name of Dmitry. Perhaps the greatest glory in Ukraine covered himself Prince Dmitry Vishnevetsky, who in the early 1550-ies founded the castle on the island of Mala Khortytsia, rallied around him the Cossacks and this marked the beginning of Zaporizhzhya Sich.
