"This is a fundamentally new for Ukraine system of identification based on the Unified state demographic register, which assigns the new documents and is one of the requirements of the action Plan on liberalization of EU visa regime for Ukraine. In accordance with the amendments, November 3, bodies and divisions of GMS of Ukraine has already started the processing and issuance of passport of citizen of Ukraine in the form of ID card. According to the changes in the legislation, the passport card will receive citizens who have reached 14 years of age, and will be able to all citizens instead of sticking photographs into the passport upon reaching 25 and 45 years of age, in cases of change of name, instead of the lost or damaged documents. Persons who will obtain a passport at the age of 18 will have a document with a validity of 4 years, with 18 years of age, the passport will be issued for 10 years. The limited validity of the document in age from 14 to 18 years meets the world practice and due to significant physiological changes in this period. The form of the passport in the form of a plastic card type ID -1, contains implanted contactless electronic media. The format of the card is 54 X 85,6 mm," said the official.
