Leading pediatric immunologist in Kyiv met with colleagues Zhitomirskii

December 15, chief pediatric immunologist Kiev Fedir Lapiy was on a working trip to Zhytomyr. In particular, by the chief freelance pediatrician Oksana Lukyanenko, he became acquainted with the work of the offices of vaccination of PHC centers Chernyakhovsky and Krasnoarmeisky districts. In the course of communication with the medical staff, "the primary", he learned about the problems with vaccination of the population, gave practical advice on dealing with topical issues, listened to comments and suggestions of colleagues. On the same day in the Central polyclinic of children's city hospital of Zhytomyr Fedor Lapiy held a meeting with heads of pediatric departments of children's hospitals, dalnicni doctors-paediatricians, senior nurses, nurses Zhitomir schools and doctors-interns. During communication the chief immunologist.Kiev said that the Government is doing all it can to stabilize the situation with vaccines. In particular, two months ago at the expense of budget funds 2015 Ukraine received 2.5 million vaccines. Given the fact that every year in Ukraine there are an average of 450-500 thousand children, stocks of vaccines last long. By the end of this year must be received nearly 1 million doses of vaccines against rubella. "We got in the beginning of summer of 277 thousand doses of the Belgian vaccine is about 25% of our annual requirements and to date we are almost all used. Already reserved and confirmed flight delivery in Ukraine 700 thousand doses of the Belgian vaccine. Until the end of December still waiting for 200 thousand doses. This deficiency, which we have, during this month will be completely exhausted, and the vaccine against measles, rubella and mumps will be available in public clinics, public healthcare institutions. It will last us about six months, given how many children have not been vaccinated previously. The vaccine was procured from the 2015 budget. The state should begin the process of vaccine procurement from the budget of 2016 and expect that they will arrive in Ukraine in early 2017. At this time will start the procedure of purchasing vaccines from the budget 2017. We will come to a continuous supply of vaccines to ensure that they were always not available to quota of 75%, like we used to have was funded with a deficit of about 25%, starting in 2010. Now we are talking about 100% financing. But the problem is not only in Finance but also in the production of the vaccine. This is not a drug that you can buy. The production process of the vaccine lasts for two years. The manufacturer need to have information from the state that in two years Ukraine will buy a certain number of doses of vaccine. Unfortunately, it is not provided by Ukrainian legislation. So we need to adapt our legislation to the EU countries, so we can order the vaccine in advance (two to three years ahead). Then the manufacturer will know that Ukraine in two years need to deliver a certain number of doses of vaccines", – said Fedor Lapiy. — However, the expert noted that there are cases of unjustified redistribution of vaccines between regions without taking into account their real needs. This was reported in the Zhytomyr regional state administration
