"Bukovina Malanka" is sweeping the Chernivtsi
the international festival of traditional culture "Bukovynian Malanka" was launched in Chernivtsi. 46 teams from all over the Bukovina, and Romania, Zakarpattia, Ivano-Frankivsk demonstrate the folk tradition to the residents and guests of the city. During the opening of Chernivtsi mayor Alex Kaspruk congratulated everybody on this holiday, which every year becomes more and more popular. "Thanks to all the participants teams which are carefully prepared during the year prior to this event, to preserve and enhance the traditions of our ancestors. Thank you for the hard work, imagination and enthusiasm with which each of you approach to the organization of Malanka holiday. I am happy to welcome guests in Chernivtsi, I wish you all to plunge into the festive atmosphere and get unforgettable impressions from today's action" – said Alexei Kaspruk. More than a thousand participants groups Malankara and tens of thousands of citizens have turned the city streets into a continuous Playground theatre with songs, music and dancing. Among the heroes of the traditional Bukovynian Malanka this year, there are new characters – the Trojan horse, the symbol of the year of the Rooster, deer, Santa Claus and the like. After a festive procession through the streets of the city Malankara will continue their performances in the square Philharmonic.
