24 January 2017, during the official visit of President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko to the Republic of Finland signed a Memorandum of understanding in the areas of energy efficiency, renewable energy and alternative fuels between the Saee and the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Finland. The Memorandum aims to establish close and mutually beneficial cooperation between Ukraine and Finland to jointly contribute to the increased production of energy from renewable sources and energy efficiency of the economy. "For Ukraine it is a great honor to share experiences, information and knowledge with one of the leading EU countries to use clean energy sources – Finland. For example, the share of "green" energy in final energy consumption in Finland is already of 38.7%. Among the ambitious goals of Finland is to ban the use of coal in electricity production until 2030. Therefore, developments of this country will be useful for Ukraine, which is very important to increase the pace of renewable energy development", - commented the Chairman of the Saee Serhiy Savchuk. Sergey Savchuk also expressed the belief that the implementation of the Memorandum will contribute to the improvement of the Ukrainian legislation and intensify the business processes in the areas of energy efficiency and renewable energy. Under the Memorandum the parties will exchange experience and knowledge with respect to public policies and mechanisms to support the development of renewable energy and energy efficiency for the sustainable operation of the power system with increasing share of "green" electricity. Special attention will be paid to the development of policies for the use of alternative fuels. Also the parties will promote implementation of joint projects in the fields of energy efficiency, renewable energy and alternative fuels, to support the organizations and companies of both countries in development projects, joint seminars, courses and meetings. This was reported in the Vinnytsia regional state administration
