Stepan Barna: no hospital will be closed forcibly if the community will justify the need for it
Each community of the region should have a set of services provided to the residents of its territory, including access to medicine. This said Stepan Barna, Chairman of the Ternopil regional state administration, during his working visit in the Shumsky district. "In the framework of community development, we do focus on Centers of providing administrative services. But at the same time we realize that medical function is an integral part of any local community. Therefore, the functioning of dispensaries, hospitals which will provide quality medical services remains a question # 1" when talking about strategic community development", - said Stepan Barna. As you know, medicine in Ternopil region are now actively involved in the all-Ukrainian reform, which involves the optimization of the hospital network. But, as says the Chairman of regional state administration – the centers provide medical services that will be as close to the patients will keep. "On the basis of territorial communities must be established outpatient clinic, emergency. They must be provided medical supplies and technical equipment," - said Stepan Barna. According to the Chairman of the Ternopil regional state administration, the government will not close any hospital, if the need for its preservation will justify community. "However, it should be understood that the question of the contents of medical institutions now within the competence of the community itself. That is their decision and responsibility on them. If society considers necessary to maintain a particular hospital – it will operate", - said Stepan Barna. However, the Chairman of governors drew attention to the need to seek additional functions that may be performed by a particular hospital institution. "For example Shumskaya district hospital in the village of Velyki Dederkaly it may be the rehabilitation center, at its base, you can open a health office and things like that. A similar perspective should be sought in other institutions of the region", - said Stepan Barna.
