In the Vinnytsia region 2 Feb –international day of wetlands

In Ukraine more than two dozen wetlands, which given the status of Ramsar wetlands of international importance. Has their land of international importance and Vinnitsa region. In 2011, the area in the valley of the Dniester river included in the List of wetlands of international importance (Ramsar site). Its area is 5394,28 hectares and covers the territory of the village of Lyadova from the city of Yampol. This part of the Dniester river is a nesting and wintering grounds many species of waterfowl. Winter on the open stretches, you can see clusters of mallards, mute swans, grey and white herons, coots, red-listed species: Goldeneye, whooper Swan, large, medium and small Krekhiv, crested mobile, swas, grey goose and many others. According to experts here there are birds of 205 species, of which 113 – breeds. During spring and autumn migration thousands of birds find food and rest. The role of wetland ecosystems for biodiversity conservation, climate-regulating processes, the formation and regulation of the flow of rivers cannot be overemphasized. Swamps, especially tall grass, have the extraordinary ability to purify the water. In 2017, on the proposal of the Secretariat of the Convention world day of wetlands was celebrated under the motto "wetlands to reduce the impact of natural disasters". It is proven that wetlands play a significant role in reducing the impact of such extreme weather events like floods and droughts. Wetlands act as a natural reservoir, accumulating and storing of rainwater and melt water and prevent flooding. And in dry periods wetlands "give water". In connection with the celebration of wetlands worth mentioning are the protected areas of the region like bug-type, Zharsky and Sandratskii all-Zoological reserves; reserve "Grabowecky" beamed swamp with valuable, rare in the region, habitat of sedge valutato. For 2016 the natural reserve Fund of the region added new territories with wetlands: a hydrological reserve "Lucky was" (Lucka village Council) and the ornithological reserve "Rate" (Chechelnitsky village Council). Optional: Under the wetland is land marches, marshes, swamps, peat bogs, or bodies of water, natural or artificial, stagnant or flowing, fresh, brackish or salt, including areas of marine water the depth of which does not exceed six meters.
